Our Story
Technology
is supposed to be the great equalizer. I have always believed that if you give people the right tools, they can doamazing things
. However, my experience working in the public sector showed me that the tools often do not reach the people who need them most. Day after day, I watchedtwo simultaneous crises
unfold. On one side, organizations were retiring perfectly good hardware. These devices were destined for landfills or dusty shelves simply due to upgrade cycles. On the other side, I met parents, students, and job seekers who werestruggling to survive
in a digital world without digital access. I realized that the“waste”
on one side was actually the“opportunity”
for the other. The environmental cost of this disconnect isstaggering
. Electronic waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the world. Throwing away a working laptop is not just bad for the planet. It is awaste of human potential
. I decided that we had to stop viewing these as separate issues.Terrabyte Green
is the answer to that disconnect. We intercept technology before it becomes waste. We clean it, update it, and put it into the hands of our neighbors who can use it tobuild a better life
. By combining hardware access with hands on education, we are ensuring that technologytruly serves everyone
.
Our Mission
We bridge the digital divide through sustainable technology solutions. We provide corporate training and IT asset decommissioning that meets NIST standards. These commercial services generate the revenue we need to refurbish devices and deliver digital literacy programs. We use these resources to empower underserved communities across North Carolina.
Who We Are

Vincent Herrera, Founder & CEO
I bring together a background in IT and a passion for community service. Before starting Terrabyte Green, I managed employment programs and observed how digital barriers hindered capable people. I watched functional computers gather dust while our neighbors struggled to get online. I realized that a sustainable reuse model could bridge the gap between excess waste and community need. I decided to use my technical skills to fix that disconnect. I hold certifications such as CompTIA Security+ and Cisco CCNA, ensuring we provide top tier service. My goal is to ensure that technology opens doors for everyone while raising awareness about sustainability and responsible recycling practices.
